OVERVIEW
Adolescent idiopathic patellofemoral pain is a familiar but poorly understood diagnosis of exclusion, often used to describe a nonhomogeneous population of individuals suffering from the insidious onset of activity-related knee pain. Hip musculature weakness among symptomatic females has provided new evidence that a direct relationship may exist among decreased hip strength, altered femoral/pelvic mechanics, and patellofemoral pain.
