Study details extent of common problems with volar locked plating of distal radius fractures

NEW ORLEANS — Investigators from Grand Rapids, Mich. uncovered useful information in a retrospective study about the extent and frequency of complications following treatment of distal radius fractures with locked volar plates.

Lead author of the study and trauma surgeon, Clifford B. Jones, MD, presented the findings here at the 2010 Annual Meeting of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and concluded, “Volar locking plates are efficient for unstable distal radius fractures.”
